This was a wonderful piece! I lost my own dad 2 years ago as well and I feel the same way. It just doesn’t feel real to this day and I’ve been seeking out ways to honor him through writing. Thanks for sharing ❤️🩹
Shadé thank you for sharing your story. I know what that feels like. I lost my bestfriend about 13 years ago and I'm just now grieving. He was my inspiration to become a writer and I think of him when I paint + write.
Speak your peace and put your feelings into your craft. 🖤
Thank you so much for such sweet words and for sharing your story. Losing a person dear to each of us is just so very difficult, and a journey in grief may go in so many ways and timelines. It is clear that your best friend touched your life and artfulness, and I'm deeply moved by the fact that you pay homage to his memory with writing and painting.
Isn't that beautiful, though?? Put our emotions into some form of craft and pain into meaningful, creative work? You are so inspiring in your resilience and dedication!
Shadé, your piece was the first I read this morning and it was just what I needed. Thank you! I lost 5 family members in Less then 2 years with no time to grieve between losses. I wanted to hide -- talk to nobody! Creativity helped me through the grief and loss. You are right when you wrote "Grief is sneaky". Sometimes I don't know why I'm sad for a moment until I realize that there was something that reminded me of a loved one I've lost. However, I'm here, raising my boys, and moving forward. Creativity is my therapy.
🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 I am so, so sorry for your losses and the pain you have had to suffer. Grief can be overwhelmingly overwhelming when it rushes in on you like that.
It's powerful to hear how creativity has helped you navigate such difficult times. I can totally understand what you mean about those moments of sadness hitting unexpectedly—like grief has a way to get us when we expect it the least.
It's just amazing how you found the strength to raise your boys and keep moving forward. Indeed, creativity really does serve as a therapeutic outlet, and I'm glad it's been there to comfort you. You're not alone, and many of us share this journey and understand. Sending you lots of love and strength.
