Saar's work often explores the theme of anticipation. She began experimenting with layering and textures, which later became defining elements of her assemblage work. The artwork portrays a pregnant woman, possibly Saar herself, deep in meditation. This contemplative state seems to predict the artist's transition from representational art to more mystical and symbolic iconography.
