Annie Frances Lee (March 3, 1935 – November 24, 2014) was an American artist. She is known for her depiction of African-American everyday life. Blue Monday was painted in 1985, in Chicago. The painting shows a tired, faceless woman sitting on the edge of her bed about start her workday. The artist first conceived of the painting while getting ready to catch a bus to work on a cold winter morning. A popular and timeless open edition work of art by the late master artist.

Her works have been featured in "ER", Bill Cosby's spin-off show "A Different World" and Eddie Murphy's movies "Coming to America" and "Boomerang".
